I have specific experiences with a host of materials that can be recycled and/or reused in the pavement structure from the subgrades to develop a stable working platform, the base and the the pavement materials themselves. Bases and pavement materials such asphalt materials and concrete surfaces are available for a long list of recycled or reused materials such as Slags, Fly Ash, crushed concrete, RAP, RAS, Rubber in the pavements and slags and tire-derived rubber backfills.
My experiences in pavement materials recycling includes:
- updating national specifications, development of technical guidance;
- development of various programs to advance programs such as the Industrial Resource Council (IRC) Webinar series and/or regional Seminars;
- and co-hosting national conferences with the Construction and Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA), National Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) , Industrial Resource Council (IRC), and the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA).
Slag products in bases and asphalt mixtures
I have worked closely with the National Slag Association (NSA) to advance the understanding of the benefits of the use of various slag products in roadway bases and asphalt mixtures and other pavement related functions. Slags can be used in subgrades, subbases, bases, and in asphalt mixtures as well as cement for concrete mixtures.
Best Practices in Asphalt Materials
I have made numerous technical presentations on recycled materials, reviewed and updated construction specifications and developed best practices criteria to include in Contractor Quality Control Plans, etc.
What I can provide for you.
I can provide Overall Program Development and Support of Recycled/Reused Pavement Materials Use and/or Specifications Development for Implementation, Technical Materials Development, Field Support and technical assistance in the development of construction options using recycling or re-used materials in projects and/or prior to or during construction operations.
